Backyard Putting contest

The other day my friend and I decided to try out my new outdoor putting green. We decided to make a contest of it with prizes and all. We each had one turn putting to each of the four hole locations. Since it was my home putting turf I let him go first. My brand new putting green was perfect and the ball rolled true. To make a long story short I won the putting contest but only by sudden death on the last hole. We both had a great time and we promised we will do it again the following week.

golf putting contest

The other day my friend Steve and I decided to have a golf putting contest on my new portable putting green. I had just gotten the putting green for x-mas and I was very anxious to use it. My putting green is 13 feet long and is dead straight. To make the contest more challenging we put little wedges under one side of the golf green to make it break one way or another. Although I got beat on my own turf I still had a good time and I look forward to the next golf contest.

Golfing For Your Health

The Health Benefits of Playing Golf

If you are interested in staying in the best possible health, you will want to understand how playing golf can be beneficial to your health. By way of this article you are presented with an overview of how playing golf can be beneficial to you from a health perspective.

One of the most immediate health benefits that you will be able to take away from playing golf is stress reduction. Unfortunately, in this day and age we live in a very stressful world. Between work and family obligations, the typical person in the world today feels as if he or she is ready to pull his or her hair out.

Stress can have a seriously negative impact on your overall physical health. Therefore, it is extremely important for you to do what you can in order to lower your stress level. Research has demonstrated that golf is an ideal way to reduce stress in your life.

Beyond helping to reduce your stress, golf can (in some instances, and depending on how you play) contribute positively to your overall heart health. Of course, this assumes that you are not always relying on a golf cart to get around a golf course. Moreover, you can garner even more significant healthy heart benefits if you carry your clubs in addition to walking across the course.

Golf can benefit your health in that it can be a solid way of assisting you in keeping unwanted pounds off your body. In this day and age, the number one health problem in many places around the world is obesity and people being overweight. By abandoning the golf cart, you really can end up losing weight through playing gold. Moreover, you will be able to maintain a more ideal and healthy weight if you regularly take off to the links.

On a related note, golf can also assist you in developing your strength and in improving your muscle tone. Strength and muscle tone are both very important when it comes to your overall health, fitness and wellness. Strength and muscle tone play a significant role in keeping your body in good condition not only today but into the future as well.

In the end, there truly are a number of health benefits that can be derived through golfing. In addition, for many people golf is about the best way that a person can spend his or her valuable spare time. With these health benefits and understanding how enjoyable golf can be, if you have never taken to the links, you may want to give serious consideration to heading off for a round of golf sometime soon.

If you don’t have time for 18 holes and have a bit of a yard or a high ceiling in your garage - you may consider setting up your own home golf range.  Now if you have a few spare minutes or need a break from your “honey do list” — you can hit some balls for recreation or to work on improving your game.

Below are some resources I think you’ll find valuable if your interested in a backyard driving range or personal practice area:

  1. Golf Practice Mats
  2. Golf Hitting Net
  3. Limited Flight Practice Balls
  4. Home Putting Green
