Driving Range in Your Own Back Yard

It’s easier than you think.

And it’s a lot of fun. We had the inaugural Turkey Day outing last fall since at 42 we realised that football just wasn’t worth the broken bones, sore muscles, and thrown out backs any more. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

Minimum requirements is a couple 1×2 golf mats, some birdie balls and a Flag. You can pick all of these up at homegolftrainingaids.com

However if you really want to wow your golfing buddies check out the best golf mat I’ve ever hit off of at RealFeelGolfMats.com

Now the putting green will cost you some green. But there is a new do it yourself putting green kit offered by igotthebug.com that won’t set you back too far. It’s indoor or outdoor and protable  - so if you move you can take it with you.

Putting Tip

PUTTING TIP

There are 3 basic components to putting.  Mechanics, which includes your grip, stance, posture, ball position, stroke path, face angle and routine etc. Speed control, often referred to as feel and Reading Greens, which is the least most practiced of the three.  In order to be very good at putting you need to be good at all three but the fastest way to save strokes is to be come better at Speed Control.  A great drill for this is to pick a down hill putt and place a club down 2 feet behind the hole.  Then walk out 3 paces away from the hole on the opposite side and place a tee.  Then 2 more paces and place a tee and then 2 more paces and a tee then 2 more paces and a tee so that you have a total of 5 tees.  Start at the first tee and hit 3 balls towards the hole making sure that all 3 go past the front edge of the hole but stay short of the clubshaft.  If successful then move to the second tee and repeat.  If at any time you leave one short or hit it to long into the club then you must drop back one level.  Set a time limit of 20 to 30 minutes to complete the drill and see if you can reach the 5th tee.  Doing this drill on a regular basis will greatly enhance your feel and speed control helping to reduce your 3 putts.
